Febe Fay Vigil-Gaumond was born in Carlsbad New Mexico, and raised in Roswell New Mexico, where her creative instincts emerged early. From childhood, she was rarely
without a pencil or crayon in hand, earning repeated recognition for her artistic ability in school and state competition's. Her father, a Barber and minister whose true passion was people, modeled a life of service , creativity, and care through hands-on work . An uncle later introduced Febe to painting in his studio during a formative time of loss. Though her path unfolded uncoventionally, her visual sensiblility remained constant, eventually expressing itself through a long and successful career as a hairstylist and salon owner in Roswell.
Febe's artwork explores transformation, presence, and the quiet beauty that exists beneath the surface. Working between realism and abstraction, she draws on decades of observing faces, gestures, and human connection. "Creating is healing for me," she says "in the same way touch has always been healing in my work."Her paintings invite viewers to slow down and recognize what is already there--light, tenderness, and the unseen gifts within each person. Teaching has become a natural extension of her practice, allowing her to encourage others to trust their creativity and begin again at any stage of life.
At the age of 61, Febe Vigil experienced a profound creative reawakening through the Master Program at Millan Art Institute. Immersed in a rigorous and deeply encouraging environment led by Ellie. John, Dimitra,Jake, and the Milan family, she felt her artistic voice ignite with clarity and purpose. The experience affirmed her belief that it is never too late to pursue what sets the soul on fire. This chapter of her journey has strengthened her commitment not only to her own practice, but to inspiring others to begin-- at any age--trusting that when something ignites the soul, It is always the right time.
Today, Febe continues to create from her gallery at Great Looks in Roswell, New Mexico. Through mixed media, bold color, and layered storytelling, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their creativity and discover that it is never to late to begin.
